"10,000 Riel Campaign" Surpasses 1.4 Million USD in Donations This Morning

Phnom Penh, June 12, 2024: The "10,000 Riel Campaign," a philanthropic initiative, has received significant support, amassing donations of approximately 1.4 million USD as of this morning. Launched on May 30, the campaign has rallied over 140,000 donors nationwide, embodying the spirit of "Khmer help Khmer."

Khan Toek, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the National Council for Social Protection and Chairperson of the Public Relations Section at the Kantha Bopha Foundation, shared this update with the Ministry of Information's Online Media Executive Working Group today.

In an ongoing effort to bolster the campaign, the Kantha Bopha Foundation Support Committee, which includes ministries, institutions, and key businesses from all capital and provincial administrations, is actively conducting fundraising activities.

The "10,000 Riel Campaign" of 2024, scheduled to run throughout June, aims to enhance the well-being of infants and children—the future pillars of Cambodia. Donors are encouraged to contribute and promote this cause on their social networks. Contributions can be made by scanning a designated QR code or via specified bank accounts.

The campaign was officially launched on June 1, 2024, by Dr. Pich Chanmony, Honorary President of the Kantha Bopha Foundation, during a ceremony that underscored the collective responsibility of supporting the operational sustainability of Kantha Bopha Hospital.

"Ensuring the sustainability of Kantha Bopha Hospital's operations is a shared duty for all Cambodians," said Dr. Chanmony during the event, highlighting the importance of nationwide participation in this charitable initiative.
